Mason Warrington Orchestra HEATS UP the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage
Beat the winter blues with the Mason Warrington Orchestra! As part of the “Just 4 Fun!” Series, The Goodwill Theatre will present a Sunday afternoon of swing and big band music performed by the Mason Warrington Orchestra on Sunday, February 22, at 2 p.m. at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage. The “Just 4 Fun!” Series is sponsored by Bob Carr 2.0 and Modern Marketing Concepts, Inc.
The Mason Warrington Orchestra is the area’s premier big band, featuring some of the finest musicians in the Southern Tier. The ensemble includes pianist Jim Ford; saxophonists Jim Meckley, Bob Pompi, Al Hamme, Hank Slechta, and Jeremy Corcoran; percussionist Brad Nemcek; bassist Tom Federowicz; trumpet players Alan Howell, Vic Merrill, John Harper, and Larry West; trombone players Mike Rohrbach, Warren Harrold, and Bob Wagner. Vocalists Judy Giblin and Ralph Muro round out the group.
Anyone who loves the Big Band sound will love the Mason Warrington Orchestra. The orchestra’s repertoire includes authentic arrangements from the books of Count Basie, Les Brown, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Stan Kenton and many other bands, both past and present. The band’s two vocalists, Judy Giblin and Ralph Muro, recreate the sophisticated styles of such legendary singers as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Bobby Darin and Peggy Lee.
“The Mason Warrington Orchestra is a great asset to our community and we love to have them,” said Naima Kradjian, CEO. “Our audiences love them. It is simply a delightful way to spend a Sunday.”
The Mason Warrington Orchestra was founded by Bob Terrell in 1992. Known as the “Main Room Band,” the orchestra has performed at venues such as the Marriott Grand Marquis Hotel in Times Square, the Wind Watch Hotel in Hauppauge, Long Island, the Fordham University Performing Arts Center in New York City, the Grand Opening of the National Warplane Museum in Elmira and the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Grand Prix Racing in Watkins Glen.
