Cynthia Clarey, a graduate of Howard University and The Juilliard School performed most of her early roles with the Tri-Cities Opera Company in Binghamton, NY. Her reputation as a consummate singing actress has led to engagements throughout the world.
Her concert career has included performances with the Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony, Houston Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, National Symphony, New York Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, and the Jerusalem Symphony. Cynthia’s recordings include Duffy’s A Time for Remembrance, Berg’s Lulu, Tippett’s The Ice Break and A Child of Our Time, Weill’s Lost in the Stars, and the Grammy-nominated Porgy and Bess conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. The films of Porgy and Bess and L’incoronazione di Poppea are available on DVD.
Beckie Menzie is a three-time winner of Chicago’s After Dark Award for Outstanding Cabaret Artist Award. “her vocals more sumptuous and pianism more virtuosic than ever” Chicago Tribune. Performing across the country, Beckie has appeared at some of the nation’s top nightclubs and concert venues including the legendary Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre and Park West, as well as at concert halls and art series across the country.
Hailed by Chicago’s WGN Radio as “one of the city’s finest cabaret performers,” Beckie is an award winning songwriter and also teaches in the musical theater department of Northwestern University. From swing to torch songs, Beckie’s interpretive style, rich smoky voice, and inventive piano stylings rank her among the best nightclub entertainers in the country.
