Goodwill Theatre, Inc. has offered educational youth shows for ten years with their Story Time Theatre series, which stages musicals based on beloved children’s books, but this season, they are expanding their educational programming with “Hillbilly Silly Science Spectacular” on Saturday, November 18 at 11am and 2pm at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage in Johnson City.
“Hillbilly Silly Science Spectacular” is a show that encourages early STEM skills and scientific curiosity in children with its zany humor. Dr. Cletus Beaker, MD, introduces children to basic science concepts, methods, and the importance of experimenting safely.
“This is a great way to encourage children’s natural scientific curiosity,” said Naima Kradjian, Goodwill Theatre CEO. “The show is approved by both parents and educators, and children love it. They’re going to go home wanting to do experiments of their own.”
Dr. Cletus Beaker, MD (aka Curt Strutz) brings over 10 years of professional speaking and children’s entertainment to the stage. He has performed at fairs, festivals, sport shows, expositions, resorts, libraries, schools, campgrounds, and community events.
Other upcoming Schorr Family Firehouse shows for children include Tri-Cities Opera’s “Jack and the Beanstalk”, on February 10, 2018, Hudson Vagabond Puppets’ “Caps for Sale” and “Three Billy Goats Gruff” on Saturday, March 24, and ArtsPower’s “Nugget and Fang” on Saturday, May 12.
