Goodwill Theatre will launch its ninth season at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage on Saturday, October 8 at 7pm. The 2016-2017 season will feature concerts, cabarets, children’s theatre, and the return of the popular “Ladies of Laughter” standup comedy events. The October 8 performance will feature Kelly MacFarland, winner of the 2016 Ladies of Laughter competition at Turning Stone Casino, and Karith Foster, a two-time finalist.
The show is the first presentation in this season’s Big Apple Comedy Club Series, underwritten by the Schorr Family, which will also feature an improv group, magic, and ventriloquism in the coming months, and is sponsored by IBM and Visions Federal Credit Union.
“Ladies of Laughter is such a popular program,” said Naima Kradjian, CEO of Goodwill Theatre, Inc. “Everyone loves to laugh, and these comedians are always a treat.”
As an experienced stand-up comedian, Kelly MacFarland has an extensive and well-rounded resume including comedy clubs, theaters, colleges and several television appearances. Kelly is currently touring clubs and colleges across the country and has entertained US troops overseas. She headlined the 2009 Boston Women in Comedy Festival, was first runner up in the 2009 Boston Comedy Festival, and was voted Best of the Fest at the 2010 Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival. Kelly has also appeared on “Stand Up in Stilettos” on the TV Guide Channel and Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend.” Most recently, Kelly was part of the Top 100 Comedians of “Last Comic Standing” and appeared on “AXS Gotham Comedy LIVE”. Kelly has been a featured keynote speaker for the American Heart Association GO Red for Women campaign for the last 10 years.
Karith Foster is the author of “Laugh Your Way to Happiness: 101 Ways to Have a Great Laugh” and the soon-to-be released children’s book “Lealah Finds Love.” Her comedy career has not only included headlining comedy clubs and colleges across the country, but gracing the stage of the famous Apollo Theatre and a recurring role as Don Imus’ sidekick on his nationally syndicated “Imus in the Morning” program. Karith has appeared on Comedy Central, VH-1, BET, BRAVO, and NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” and “The Today Show”.

The Schorr Family Firehouse Stage, located at 48 Willow Street in Johnson City, accepts cash, checks and all major credit cards. Doors open approximately one hour before show time. General admission is based on a first-come; first-served policy.
The Schorr Family Firehouse Stage is the first performance venue of the Goodwill Theatre Performing Arts Complex & Professional Training Facility. It is located on the corner of Corliss Avenue and Willow Street in Johnson City. Patrons are advised to enter the facility through the parking lot on Corliss Avenue.
