The Goodwill Theatre will present an evening of ragtime music with pianist Rick Pedro on Sunday, November 25, at 2 p.m. at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage. The Goodwill Theatre’s 2011-2012 Music Hall Concert Series is sponsored by White Knight Productions.
A resident of Apalachin, Rick Pedro started piano lessons at the age of five. Though his training was classical, Pedro quickly became enamored with Scott Joplin’s Ragtime, The Original Dixieland Band’s arrangements and the music of the Roaring 20’s. He began to develop his own unique styling of Jazz, Ragtime and Dixieland. In concert, Rick comes alive, thrilling his audiences with fast-paced melodies, soulful harmonies and a sense of humor.
The concert will entertain audiences with songs about the great nation of America, selections from Scott Joplin, “As Time Goes By” including some sing-a-longs, and many more.
Rick Pedro has performed in Times Square, Herald Square, and Bryant Park in New York City, and locally at Endicott Performing Arts Center, Highland Park, the Rec Park Music Festival, Newark Valley Days, and Owego’s Strawberry Festival. He has recorded two CDs, “Patriotic Ragtime” and “That Ragtime Spirit”. For more information, visit: www.rickpedro.com
