Rick Pedro, our local piano man, plays his favorite contemporary tunes
The Goodwill Theatre will present an evening of contemporary easy listening music interpreted by local pianist Rick Pedro on Sunday, September 29, at 2 p.m. at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage. The Goodwill Theatre’s 2013-2014 Just for FUN Series is sponsored by VISIONS Federal Credit Union.
A resident of Apalachin, Rick Pedro started piano lessons at the age of five. Though his training was classical, Pedro quickly became enamored with Scott Joplin’s Ragtime, The Original Dixieland Band’s arrangements, the music of the Roaring 20’s and later timeless classics and Broadway. He began to develop his own unique styling blending several genres and adding a sense of delight. In concert, Rick comes alive, thrilling his audiences with fast-paced melodies, soulful harmonies and a sense of humor.
“We are so happy to present an artist like Rick who can as take the audience on a musical, sentimental journey of America’s greatest hits spanning decades and with stylish arrangements performed with gusto,” says Goodwill Theatre CEO Naima Kradjian. “Rick will perform music from his five CD’s and all will be for sale. His latest release As Time Goes By proves one constant remains, music is the universal language of the world.” adds Kradjian.
The concert will entertain audiences with timeless classics like Joplin’s “Entertainer,” “Rosetta (Chicago Style),” “Stardust,” “Piano Man,” “It had to be You,” “Chattanooga Choo-Choo,” “I’ll Be Seeing You” and many more including some sing-a-longs.
Rick Pedro has performed in Times Square, Herald Square, and Bryant Park in New York City, and locally at the Endicott Performing Arts Center, Highland Park, the Rec Park Music Festival, Newark Valley Days, and Owego’s Strawberry Festival. Rick plays with enthusiasm precision and joy. The audience gets thoroughly swept up in his performance.
